Robbie Williams Britpop Review

In a twist none of us were prepared for this week saw the release of Britpop 3 weeks earlier than planned. Though originally planned for release on October 10th as announced last May, due to scheduling issues it was pushed back to February 6th. Either way, we are excited to give it a listen!

Rocket: Theres a Billy Idol vibe to this and featuring Tony Iommi was an amazing choice! its a very rock track full of the usual Robbie Williams sass that we all know and love.

Spies: This is a very vocally strong with Vocals feeling similar to those of David Bowie and the track has feelings similar to that on Robbie's earlier album Intensive Care (2005)

Pretty Face: Wait did we just time travel to the 90s?? Many of the comments around this track ask why haven't I heard this before? and we have to agree how is this not an early Robbie track?

Bite Your Tongue: This one has a bite to it! Its a fast paced angsty track and we love it, and those guitars... OBSESSED!

Cocky: This track is so full of the Robbie Williams sass its impossible not to love it! The lyrics are incredibly witty in a style only he could get away with and this track is exactly what we were hoping for and more!

All My Life: This one has some serious Oasis vibes! "My life is based on a true story one of dream, chaos and audacity" sticks out as potentially my favourite line of the whole album and this track is as authentic as ever with the line "If I can't be who I am then man I'd rather die" This track immediately made it to the playlist!!

Human: Featuring Jesse & Joy, this is a bittersweet track this is a slower track that makes you focus on the lyrics that hold importance, this is a song for change with incredibly powerful messaging. "Just make the most of being alive" and "we didn't know it at the time that we were human and alive" really makes you think about time and what you do with it.

Morissey: If you know this reference you understand why this song is so good! starting out the song with the line "I like the singer He's a little eccentric" leaves no doubt in your mind what this song is about and the line "Morissey is talking to me in code" makes your reflect on just how much one person's art can inspire or resonate with another. Our only wish now: A Morissey verse on the remix!

You: The beat goes hard on this one and we just KNOW it would sound big live!

It's Ok Until The Drugs Stop Working: This song is an honest reflection of addiction, the comedown, trying to get clean and the tough emotions that lead to seeking out the product you get addicted to in the first place and this delicate story is reflected in the delicate tone of the vocals!

Pocket Rocket: "what a time to be alive" is an accurate representation of how it feels to appreciate the journey this album has taken us on and a beautiful way to end the album. this closing track has delicate vocals and a slower pace making it feel like the perfect sendoff! there is also something poetic about starting the album with Rocket and ending on Pocket Rocket!

Overall this album has many amazing references throughout and yet remains so unapologetically Robbie which is exactly what makes it an album you want to hit repeat on!
