Everyone's a Star Orlando Tour Review

Guess what time it is? That’s right! 5sos World Tour time! Following the release of their sixth album Everyone’s A Star, which was released November last year, 5 Seconds of Summer set on tour! As a writer here at Groovy Moo, I’m here to tell you about this tour… with first-hand experience, seeing them live right in Orlando, Florida! So let’s get into it!

First of all let’s dive into not 5sos, but the opening act! The Band CAMINO is opening for many of the tour dates, just happened to open for the Orlando show! They played ten songs, some more popular hits being songs like, Daphne Blue, Do What You Gotta Do, and Holly!. They had such a good stage presence and you could really feel the amount of soul put into the performance. Even people who didn’t know the songs were moving and bobbing their heads to it, if you haven't checked them out, you really should, they had great spirit, voices, and lyrics!

Now for the main act, beloved band by all (especially us here at Groovy Moo) 5 Seconds of Summer! This was my first ever concert, so I had no clue what to expect, and when I say 5sos exceeded any expectation I had, that’s an understatement. They joked so much (especially about being Floridian). The music truly struck somewhere deep in the soul and evoked some emotions that I haven’t felt in so long. Watching the crowd sing and interact was so beautiful, it’s truly unlike anything else.

Which brings me to my next point! 5sos truly included the fans in everything, it was so immersive. Every night they have a fan go on stage and present them the “Boyband of the Year” award! Talk about fan interaction! Then they also have a fan open a briefcase with a secret song for the night, this song is voted for between four options by the crowd, and the song gets put in a briefcase for a fan to open and reveal. For Orlando, we got Babylon (off of their Youngblood album) Talk about a captivating performance!

About mid-way through the show 5sos plays a slideshow in which two things happen

1. A different piece of lore from their career

2. A slide geared towards the city, called Becoming A Star in (city name)

For Orlando the lore was a video of the band when they were very young on UStream, they were joking about who had the longest fringe (definately Calum) and it was just a very fun vibe!

For Becoming a Star in Orlando, 5sos had to have a very Floridian day, so here’s 5sos’s guide to doing it

1. Fuel up on Pub Subs for a busy day ahead

2. Steal a propeller boat (for the bit) Michael said he’d be taking the boat to Outer Banks

3. Domesticate the gators in Lake Jesup (Michael named a few of them)

And of course last, but not least,

4. Beat NSYNC in a boyband battle (which they claim to have won…)

Overall, a very funny skit and pretty accurate day to day Floridian activities to me.

Now for the real music, The show is separated into six named parts (technically eight individual parts), each representing a different point in their career,

Act I being The Peak with songs from their new album Everyone’s A Star, these songs had so much power to them, you could tell how proud the band is of them (and for good reason)  

Act II being The Fall, this act includes the fan-favorite Easier-More transition. I can still feel the goosebumps thinking about it.

Then there was the power-point break, in which I explained in more depth before this section of the review (check back to section Powerpoint and Lore Drop). They played iconic songs like She's Kinda Hot and Evolve.

Act III being The Yearning (they aren’t lying, those songs are full of yearning) Beautifully sung, genuinely I have no words

Act IV being The Breakup, where they each perform a song from their solo albums. I love this part because it really shows how they can be a band and do something beautiful together, while also displaying originality and independence and showing the music behind each individual that makes up the band. The performances for each of these songs were incredible, I’ve got to shout out Ashton Irwin, when singing Have U Found What Ur Looking For? He played drums (which isn’t easy) and didn’t miss a single beat or note.

Act V The Rise, Here they played Amnesia and the secret song (Babylon). Amnesia was truly unlike anything I’ve ever heard, I truly don’t think any recording could do that song live justice, having the crowd and the band is just truly so special.

Act VI The Beginning, Here they played many songs from the beginning of the band’s career, many iconic songs like She Looks So Perfect (which might I add is very hype live) Jet Black Heart, Michael’s vocals here were gorgeous. Waste the Night, which so beautiful live, the chorus, Calum did insanely amazing on that. (along with others songs in this category)

Then to end the show, was the Encore. They did a crowd walk and sung Everyone’s a Star and Youngblood. The amount of energy everybody put into Youngblood was magical, The band and crowd was so hype and loud, it was such a fun thing to experience.

Overall, This show was such a fun and unique experience, 5sos really connected to the fans and made the whole show so touching and heartwarming. From Luke making us jump during Not Ok, to screaming No Shame, and crying happy tears during Amnesia, every moment was unforgettable. It has been multiple days and I still feel so much joy from being in that atmosphere. 5 Seconds of Summer truly is a life-changer. I one thousand percent recommend seeing them this tour or at least sometime in your life. That’s all from us! Happy Touring!
